2 days to go!

I still can’t quite believe that it’s two years since I began my Masters degree! In two days time we will find out our results. Am I nervous? Just a tad!

We handed our final assignment in at the end of September. Feels like a lifetime ago. What have I been doing since then you might wonder.

My husband and I finally got to celebrate our Silver Wedding Anniversary in style by taking a road trip in a mobile home through Europe to Italy. Oh my goodness, it was utterly amazing!

France, Germany, Switzerland, Venezia, Asissi, Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Pompeii, The Island of Capri, Roma, Firenze, Pisa, Deiva Marina (near Cinque Terre) with our final stop in Dijon, France.

What was my favourite? Oh dear, I couldn’t possibly choose. It was all so beautiful … greenery with a sprinkling of autumn, snow-covered mountain tops, cypress trees, stone pine (umbrella) trees, bright blue skies, azure seas, warm temperatures, churches, so many churches, terracotta clock towers, spires, vineyards … I’m in love!

In terms of writing, today I have just finished writing Chapter 9 of my novella/novel. I plan to do a little bit of editing this week and take a bit of time out to take stock of where I am and where I am going with it. I feel like some planning is needed.

I’ve been reading too. Mslexia Magazine, Sylvia Plath’s ‘The Bell Jar’ – it’s a powerful, yet painful raw read for sure, the way she talks about the different ways to end her life is frightening and yet the figurative language is absolutely stunning. You can tell she was a poet first and foremost. I’m in awe!

And now I’m am reading Tembi Locke’s memoir ‘From Scratch’ after watching the limited series on Netflix. Both are brilliant, but heartbreaking. Soggy tissues all round!
